What are you going to get for him? Sadly, I do not think that a lot of thoughts go into what men should get for Valentine’s Day. There is the running joke that most women get their men singlet, boxers and handkerchiefs for Valentine and you start to wonder whether you’re a boyfriend or an Atilogwu dancer.
The onus has always been on what the woman is going to get and men splash out all the time. The ladies are most times unsure what they should get for their man but here are a few ideas on what to get for him if you are not dating a cultural dancer.
First, I would like to assume that you know your man and you’re not trying to shoot your shot. Men can be stubborn and some would actually need the singlet and boxers that you already have in mind to give. But if you give that to him, he is still going to carry your matter to twitter and drag you for cheap retweets. The idea is to buy something that you know that he needs for him, if you are unsure and you want the valentine to be special here are a few tips.
Get food for him. There is no way that you can go wrong with amazing food, everybody is a foodie with the right plate. If you surprise him at work or at home with a meal of Eba, Amala or Tuwo and soup that has been corrupted with Cray fish, stock fish, Kpomo, Roundabout, shaki, and all sorts of assorted pieces of meat. Or you get Ofada rice or Jollof with several obstacles of delicious protein obstructing his spoon every time he tries to lift it, he is likely going to burst into tears and sing songs of love that nobody has heard since Helen of Troy went missing.
You can also get a wristwatch for him, custom made or not. I would suggest that you put a cheesy inscription on in or a cheesy note with it when you give it to him. Something about how your love increases every time the clock ticks, or something like that. There are other accessories like belts, cuff-links, bracelets, etc that you can get for him. It would be very nice if these could be custom made so it would be more special.
Shaving kits including clipper, shaving cream, beard oil, aftershave, cologne, etc are amazing gifts too. Both of you will enjoy this, because you can’t really have your man oozing like the incredible Hulk and he would look even better just for you. Nice shirts, shorts, shoes and clothing materials THAT YOU KNOW WOULD LOOK GOOD ON HIM. Please, do not get him something that would have the young King looking like Steve Rodgers before he became Captain America and then fight him because he does not put it on.
If your man is a football lover, (Congratulations if he is, If he is not, lol) a current jersey of his favorite football club is a great idea. If the club is having a bad season or not, you can get the newly unveiled Nike jersey designed for Nigeria for the 2018 World Cup for him, it is amazing. The jersey can be customized with his name and the number of his favorite player.
My advice put his name and the number 1.
Tell him this is because he is a keeper.
Thank me later 😉
