Nigerian Defence Academy Gives Free Medical Services to Kaduna Community

As part of the activities lined up for the 64th Regular course Passing Out Parade (POP) the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has embarked on offering free medical services through 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital to the people of Mando community in Kaduna State.

Kada News Mag gathered that the members of the community trooped out in mass to Mando Primary School the venue of the exercise as early as 5 am. The services offered by the NDA included Dental examination, Eye examination, High blood pressure, distribution of mosquito nets and diabetes test.

Major General Mohammed Ibrahim the commandant of NDA inspected the stands where the services were being carried out, he said the aim of the outreach is to make available services that the academy can offer to its neighbors.

As part of efforts to help the surrounding communities, the academy has sunk boreholes, renovated classrooms, planted trees and provided transformers. He said “In the spirit of caring for our neighbors because government alone can not do it, we decided to organize this free medical outreach to the community. We have to help one another to make life better for each other.”

The Commandant appealed to the community to continue to relate with the academy in peace and urged them to enroll their children in the academy saying “It is the best legacy you can leave for your children so that they can serve their father land in the position of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He also asked them to report suspicious persons or gathering to security agencies and to be their brother’s keeper as security cannot be isolated.
