Ndidi Wilfred Oyinye has disclosed that every member of the Nigerian 2018 FIFA World Cup squad is ready to put his life on the line for the country. The Super Eagles defender made this statement in the build up to the second round of fixtures in the World Cup group stage. Nigeria play Iceland on Friday as they hope to make the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Ndidi played all ninety minutes in the opening fixture against Croatia on Saturday when Nigeria fell to a 2-0 defeat while Iceland put up a great performance to earn an unexpected point against Argentina. The Leicester midfielder, Ndidi, however disclosed that the super eagles had put that defeat behind them and were fully focused on beating Iceland.

”Even though we are players, we are also Nigerians, We have put the loss behind us, we will give everything we have in the next game, we will die there in the next game,” Ndidi said to reporters.

In the same vein Ndidi’s teammate, Victor Moses has urged Nigeria to get an early goal against Iceland so that the debutants can be unsettled from the onset. Moses stressed that getting an early goal has to be the game plan of the Nigerians. ”We have a plan to apply for Iceland in the hope of scoring goals early and making them feel bad, I know they also have their plans but we will try to run more than them, especially in the middle and in the offensive,” he said.

A defeat for Nigeria on Friday would mark the end of the road for the three time African champions. Iceland would get four points if they can manage a win and that would improve their chances of qualifying to the next round. Nigeria would play Iceland at the Volvograd stadium on Friday by 4pm.
