The Savannah Basketball Conference that started on the 14th of August has been relatively easy for the defending Champions of the Kwese Male League; Kano Pillars.
The Kano Pillars humiliated the Kada Stars of the host city Kaduna in a thrilling game that ended 91-58. The Kada Stars are debutants in the competition but they put up a good fight against the stronger opposition, however, the team from Kano took nothing for granted.
The off guard of the winning team Azouma Dike reiterated this fact by saying that “there are no small games, we take every game seriously; this is the Pillars’ tradition.” His 21 points, the highest points scored by an individual throughout the game helped his team to a comfortable victory.
Dike also said that their aim for the conference is to top the Conference at the end in order to qualify for the Final 8, a feat that he is sure will be a difficult one but believes that the Pillars can achieve because of their winning tradition and the determination within the players.
The Pillars have started well defeating the Gombe Bulls and the Kada Stars. They remain favorites to achieving their aim of topping the conference.
