Kaduna Film Festival is Go – El-Rufai

Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has given his approval to the maiden edition of the Kaduna film festival with the theme, “unifying Nigeria through films”.

Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai has given his approval to the maiden edition of the Kaduna Film Festival with the theme, “Unifying Nigeria Through Films”.

The film festival which is scheduled to hold from the 5th- 11th September 2018 which is to be an annual event going forward is Initiated and organized by EZZYKASH media in partnership with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Kaduna State chapter in conjunction with the Kaduna State government and other relevant stakeholders.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Daniel Danauta who disclosed the governor’s approval when he received the initiators in his office, said, the initiation is in tandem with the present government’s philosophy.

“The creative arts industry is one of the greatest emerging industry which if well developed can take the place of the oil industry, hence your initiative is seen as a good partnership in the development of the state because it will boost the internally generated revenue of the state.

The governor is ensuring an open environment for investors and emerging creative arts industries in the state, and we will work for hand in hand with you in this regards,” he assured.

Earlier in his address, the Head of the Kaduna Film festival, Mr. Israel Kashim Audu said, the festival is designed to propagate “our culture and explore tourism, and to promote the film industry, filmmakers in the entire northern states and Kaduna State in particular.

He said that it is also a way of encouraging youth to acquire and gain skills for entrepreneurship and self-employment through film production as well as employable skills that lead to job creation and to help reduce the menace of drug addiction in the society and other social vices.

It is also expected to bring together great and prominent legends in the entertainment industry in Nigeria (Bollywood and Kannywood) actors, filmmakers, producers, entrepreneurs, private companies and entertainment outfits“.
