Kaduna Poly ends seven-week strike


The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Kaduna Polytechnic branch has called off the strike that they embarked on seven weeks ago.

The Chairman of the Union; Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim said in a statement to newsmen that the strike was called off after an agreement was reached during the emergency congress that was held on 17th October 2017.

Dr. Ibrahim stated that the suspension of the strike would be for six months only as another congress would be reconvened on 17th April 2018 to evaluate the terms of the suspension and to determine if the university management are holding on their end of the deal.

The Union went on strike in August 2017 as the students were in the process of writing their second semester examinations after issuing several demands to the school management to improve the welfare package of the union members and to create a conducive working environment in the university.
