The kadinvest pro-AM would hold in Kaduna from March 27-30. The tournament would take place at the Kaduna Golf Club, Kaduna. It would be the first time in ten years that the club would be hosting such an event. Last year, the first edition of the Kadinvest Open saw only amateur golfers compete for the title but more than 100 professional golfers are expected to compete for the seven million naira prize money.
KadInvest is the platform for demonstrating that Kaduna State is open for business. The state has demonstrated firm commitment to achieving sustainable economic growth by legislating to make it easier to do business, and aligning its budget to capital expenditure to build human capital and infrastructure.
The introduction of the Kadinvest ProAm into the golfing season also allows Nigerian golfers to have more tournaments to participate in. this would increase their chances of becoming champions and would be also very beneficial to the welfare. Martin Odoh of Minna Cantonment Golf Club in Niger State believed that it was a good development which professionals of PGAN should take advantage of. “As a professional l am happy this is happening in my time when we thought all hopes was lost for us to get sponsors for more tournaments, because of the economy of the country,” Odoh said.
The Kaduna Golf Club has been recently renovated and is ready to host a world class tournament. The captain of the club, Col. Ibrahim Biu made this disclosure while he expressed his joy that wonderful things are happening to the Golf Club during his tenure. “I can recall when the first edition played out last year”, Biu stated.
“At the closing of that event, the Executive Governor of the State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai vowed he would make Kaduna great again by bringing in investors. Around same time, the sponsor of the tournament, Sir Lucky Omoluwa of Pinnacle promised this year’s event will involve the professionals. This is what we are about to witness,” he said.
“Again, I must add that that our club owes a lot to Governor El-Rufai and Sir Lucky Omoluwa for making our Club great again. As you know, we have not hosted a big golf event for years now. This tourney is being staged to honor several investors who are pouring into Kaduna. Sustaining the event in such a big way is just wonderful,” he concluded
The Kadinvest ProAm has prompted the Ladies Professional Golfers Association of Nigera to begin preparations in earnest. “We are all going to Kaduna for the tournament,” an official of the LPGAN said. Also, Francis Ekpe of Ikoyi Club and the defending champion of David Mark Birthday Tournament told some pressmen, “I’ll weigh the options between David Mark Birthday Tournament and Kadinvest Open because the dates are too close. The two tournaments are taking place in different parts of the country and the financial implications are really something to take into consideration – but I’ll defend my title at Otukpo,” he said.
