Alhaji Isa Ashiru; an aspirant for the Kaduna State governorship seat under the umbrella of People’s democratic Party has insisted that he would review the sacking of the 25,000 teachers sacked by Kaduna State in 2017. Ashiru made this remarks while he was addressing his supporters while he toured the 23 local government areas in Kaduna State as he opens to pick up the gubernatorial ticket by winning the PDP primaries.
He insisted that the current administration led by Governor El-Rufai was wicked to sack more than 30,000 state workers with little or no explanation. The Kaduna state government has also sacked 4000 local government workers during this tenure. He explained to the supporters that this was a major percentage of the Kaduna workforce who now have absolutely nothing to do.
The former chairman, House of Representatives, committee on appropriation expressed his disappointment at the lack of compassion displayed by the current governor. He said that it was unfair to sack thousands of workers, when it was the primary duty of the government to provide employment for its citizens. Isa Ashiru also explained that the massive sacking has contributed to the severe security situation in the state. He promised that his administration would tackle the unacceptable security situation in the state.
“Our state has never witnessed the kind of backwardness we are now forced into. It is very unfair to lay off thousands of workers at a time when other alternatives are very hard. You cannot sack thousands of workers and refuse to pay them their entitlements knowing fully well that hundreds of thousands depend on them to feed. When you do so, you are only creating more insecurity and social problems,” he said
“When I get the ticket of the PDP, it will be easy for our party to win the elections, and we shall look into the matter and ensure justice for all that were unjustly forced out of their jobs,” Isa Ashiru concluded
