A group of herdsmen, cattle sellers, petroleum marketers, and other individuals have presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his re-election in 2019.

Association of Cattle sellers, Traders of Sheikh Mahmud Gummi Market, National Association of Road Transport Workers (NARTO), the Petroleum Tankers Driver (PTD), The Katsina and Daura People’s Association, and IPMAN presented the form to the governor at his office yesterday. The groups expressed their desire for El-Rufai to seek re-election because they believe in his leadership of Kaduna State.

Mr. Abbas Likoro who led the delegation of herdsmen, cattle sellers and petroleum markerters to the Governor’s office said that the leadership qualities that El-Rufai has shown so far have led to the development of the state. They also used the medium to appeal to the Governor to re-contest for his seat in 2019.

The Governor had earlier announced his intention to re-contest his seat in 2019. he received endorsements from several groups and individuals, some of which came together to purchase his nomination form. The governor announced the visit and acceptance of the nomination form via his official twitter account.

Governor El-Rufai expressed shock and disbelief for the gesture but he appreciated the efforts of the herdsmen group. He was grateful that the money for the nomination form had come up because he did not have the money to purchase the form on his own. He also assured the groups present that he would re-double his efforts on improving the quality of life in Kaduna.

“I don’t have N20 million also to buy my form. The money I have in the bank is not close to that amount. I have only one account in GTB. Except I sell my house will I be able to raise that amount,” he said.

I could remember that during the meeting, the president was the first person to raise his hand and said he does not have N50m. In fact, we the governors started discussing how we will raise the money for Mr. President. We said each governor will contribute N2m each. And we traveled to China and it was in China I told the President that some group had purchased the form for you, so who will buy my own for me?” he said.
