The 2017 PasPrize quiz competition which brought together a total of 192 schools at 10 zonal competitions in Kaduna had its state finals bringing together all winners from the various zones to compete in the subject areas of Mathematics, English Spelling Bee, and General Knowledge.
It was the challenge to discover the most outstanding students in the state at the grassroots from all of the zonal winners from the 10 zonal competitions conducted.
The State finals held on 21st October at the Auditorium National Institute of Trypanosomiasis Research Unguwan Rimi Kaduna where 90 schools were ably represented by their teachers and students to participate in the Pas Prize state final challenge.

The collaboration between Pas Prize and her partners is a complementary one whereby Pas Prize creates the platform to Challenge and Discover Outstanding students at the grassroots, and partners collaborate in Rewarding winners as a way of promoting excellence in Nigeria’s education space.
Each of the winners received a PasPrize medal of excellence crowned on them by the Director of Schools Mr. Aliyu Ibrahim representing the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology Kaduna state.
School kits were donated to winners by the organizers “Developing Talents in Our Society Initiative” [Dtalentios].
While basic and advanced textbooks relevant to each winner’s area of giftedness was rewarded to participants by Pas prize education prize partner “BookMySchool initiative” whose aim is to encourage learning by supporting indigent students with Books as learning tools to encourage students learning efforts.
Most outstanding public schools in the three subject areas were recognized and rewarded with learning aids courtesy of BookMySchool. The most outstanding Public schools in each subject at PasPrize 2017 are:
- Mathematics: Government Senior Secondary School Rigachikun represented by Kamal Huzaifa
- Spelling Bee: There was a tie between
- Government Secondary School Sabon Afaka represented by Shamsudeen Aliyu
- Government Secondary School Ungwan Boro represented by Shinkut Blessing
- General Knowledge: Alhudahuda College Zaria represented by Muhammad Bashir
Also, the winning school in English spelling bee was rewarded with a mini library donation courtesy of another of Pas prize Education Prize Partner “TeachNigeria” who works on improving basic school infrastructures as a way to improve and encourage quality learning atmosphere in Nigeria.
As participants benefit from the various awards from partners we are glad we have started on a successful note. For our mission is to connect students to stakeholders passionate about rewarding excellence in the education space. As this was also the idea behind the name Pas Prize, culled from an acronym of ‘Partners and Sponsors Prize’ says Nina Mbah Founder of Pas Prize and Managing Director Developing Talents in Our Society Initiative.
