Digital Switchover to Launch In Kaduna – FG

Kaduna State would start to enjoy digital television programmes starting from tomorrow 22nd December 2017. The Chief Engineer Of the distribution company for the digital switchover Pinnacle Communication Mr Charles Cooper said signals from not less than 24 television stations would be received free of charge.

While conducting journalists around the facilities, Mr Cooper said the equipment for the switchover was state of the art technology. He also the switchover would address the challenge of poor reception of television signal in the southern part of Kaduna state.

The facility is expected to be commissioned by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Layi Mohammed, Pinnacle is the first licensed signal distribution in the country to commence digital transmission in line with the federal government directives on digital switchover.

Mr Cooper also said that major focus will be Kaduna metropolis, stating that the entire state would be covered as time goes on. “We have started discussing with NTA Kaduna and other local stations in the state have indicated their interest to partner with us,” he said.

He added that in the nearest feature more international channels like Cable News Network (CNN), Al Jazeera, and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) would be added to the channel list.

As from Friday, we will begin transmission with our new state of the art digital station. We thank the federal government for believing in us,”

Mr Cooper concluded that unlike analogue system which is outdated, the digital system is easy to operate and less expensive, promising prospective viewers of clear visual and good sound quality when transmission commences.
