Costa made headlines early in the transfer window after releasing a statement while on international duty that Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte had informed him via text that his services were no longer required at the London Club.

The Spanish forward scored 20 league goals last season to propel his team to another premier league title. Costa, however, caused some controversy as he was determined to make a big money move to China during the last January transfer window which the club refused to sanction.

Costa has scored 59 goals and made 120 appearances for Chelsea in his three seasons at the club winning two league titles. Fellow Spanish team mate, Alvaro Morata has already been signed from Real Madrid to replace the former Atletico man in leading their attack.

However, Chelsea FC has released a statement that they expect Costa to honor the terms of his contract and return to training at the club. He is expected to train and get back to match fitness and make himself available for selection.
Costa has however reiterated that he is determined to return to Atletico although the Spanish side is currently serving a transfer ban.

The striker is however certain that his future would be resolved soon.
