52 Vulnerable Adults Empowered in Kaduna By CEDI

The Community Empowerment and Development Initiative (CEDI) has commenced a 3-month vocational training for 52 vulnerable adults in the state, this initiative is supported by the American Embassy. The Chairperson of CEDI, Safiya Ahmadu said the empowerment project seeks to take the vulnerable adults off the Streets by helping them become relevant in the society and making life meaningful to them.

Safiya Urged those who will benefit from the initiative to take the training very seriously and to learn to help one another irrespective of their tribe and political affiliation, she also appealed to them to impact on others what the have learned during the course of the training. “I urge you to be serious and not waste tax payers’ money. Let this training be the beginning of a positive turn around in your lives,” she said.

The vulnerable adults comprising of crippled, deaf and dumb are to be trained on skills in computer studies tailoring, knitting and shoe-making among others. At the end of the 3-month training, participants would be monitored for another 3-month to ensure that the tools given to them are well utilized.

She also asked beneficiaries to see the training as a rare opportunity which many out there are looking for without any breakthrough. “I urge you to make every opportunity throughout the duration of the training to have something that will change your lives and those of others,” she pleaded.

Richard one of the beneficiary who is deaf spoke in sign language and thanked the organizers of the training for bringing out the ability in them and making them useful in the society.
